VeroGray. This new 3D printing and Rapid Prototyping material from IPF 3D Printing provides dimensional stability, great detail and excellent surface surface finish for your 3D Prints and rapid prototype models.

A unique combination of low Water Absorption value (ASTM D570-98 24Hr) and Heat Deflection Temperature (ASTM D-648) enables VeroGray 3D prototypes to maintain their dimensional stability in changing environmental conditions such as transit.

VeroGray also offers excellent Flexural Strength (95 MPa) and Flexural Modulus along with Tensile Strength of 60 MPa making it ideal for engineering simulation and structural testing prototyping. With the superb surface quality and detail visualization of the opaque, rigid VeroGray material, 3D rapid prototyped models look and feel like moulded plastic parts. This is valuable whenever plastic simulation is required in your 3D Printed models, prototypes for toys, automotive products, consumer goods and electronics along with medical prototypes and architectural models can all benefit from this new material and it's Fit, Form and Function qualities.

IPF purchased its latest DATRON M8 specifically for machining plastic. It is a high-speed CNC machining centre for producing machined parts with excellent surface finish, accuracy and quality.

IPF will primarily use their sixth CNC machining centre for the milling /routing of engineered plastics (PTFE Acetal etc), plastic sheet materials (Perspex, polycarbonate, ABS etc) and free issue plastic components. The M8 has been configured with vacuum plates and a high flow vacuum pump for holding small and large components without the need for job specific vacuum plates.

The M8 features a steel bridge reinforced with polymer concrete for superior stability and a 3kW, water-chilled 60,000 RPM spindle for feed rates up to 20 meters per minute. A vibration-dampening, polymer-concrete machining table provides 1016 x 762 work area, we also have larger machines with a working area of up to 3050 x 2050mm. The M8 has been fitted with an automatic tool changer, tool- length sensor and a z-correction probe.

Gary's in the Limelight, again!

You may have spotted Gary's pink shirt in the trade press recently, bestowing the virtues of the Connex500.

He was invited to an Objet Connex500 Q&A session with the General Manager of Objet Europe Andy Middleton and was happy to share his knowledge of this revolutionary 3D printer.

"The development of materials will be a major factor [in the growth of 3D printing]. We're the only bureau in the UK with a Connex500 and our ability to print multi-material models in a single build is a real advantage over our competition. We can print models with a combination of rubberlike, flexible and rigid materials using digital materials. This combined with the accuracy of the printing, means that we are continually achieving models that better emulate the loo, feel and function of the final product.

I believe 3D printing technology will move further into short-run rapid manufacturing." - Gary Miller, IPF.

IPF are the only bureau to offer printing on this machine so Gary's expertise was invaluable. The article is featured in Plastic and Rubber Weekly.
