PTFE Machining – Low friction and Thermal Stability

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), often known as Teflon, is well know for its low surface coefficient which makes it ideal for many industrial and medical applications. Along with its high chemical resistance, PTFE is very thermal stable. It can also be produced in filled grades, like glass or carbon, to improve its mechanical properties.

The Advantages & Uses of PTFE for Machining

Material of Choice for Challenging Environments

PTFE’s unique combination of properties, including its low surface coefficient and thermal stability, makes it ideal for applications where resistance to harsh conditions is critical. Its ability to be produced in filled grades, like glass or carbon, enhances its mechanical properties, further extending its usability.

Versatile and Robust for Diverse Industries

Low Surface Coefficient: Ideal for applications requiring minimal friction.

High Chemical Resistance: Suitable for environments with exposure to harsh chemicals.

Thermal Stability: Maintains integrity in high-temperature settings.

Applications of Machined PTFE

Scientific and Laboratory Equipment: Preferred for parts that must withstand chemical and thermal stress.
Industrial Applications: Utilized in components that require durability and resistance to wear.
Food Processing: Safe for contact with food due to its non-reactive nature.
