BMF Clear Resin Now Available at IPFL for Transparent Micro 3D Printing

Gain clarity and definition on micro 3D printed components

BMF Clear Resin Now Available at IPFL for Transparent Micro 3D Printing

IPFL now offers BMF Clear resin for customers looking to produce transparent, high-resolution micro 3D printed parts.

Developed for BMF micro 3D printing systems, BMF Clear is an optically transparent photopolymer resin designed for applications that need both light transmission and micron-level accuracy. The material has greater than 90% light transmittance and can be printed at layer heights as fine as 10 microns, making it a strong option for transparent micro-scale components where internal features need to be seen, inspected or aligned.

For customers developing microfluidic devices, optical components, biomedical prototypes or precision engineering parts, BMF Clear gives a new route to producing transparent parts with the feature detail associated with BMF micro 3D printing.

Transparent micro 3D printed parts for demanding applications

Clear materials are often requested in micro-scale projects, but transparency and fine feature accuracy are difficult to achieve together. At small scales, surface finish, layer height and material behaviour all affect how light passes through a part.

BMF Clear has been developed to address this challenge. It is suited to applications where engineers need to combine small channels, fine features, internal structures or optical alignment features with a clear material.

Typical applications include:

  • Microfluidic prototypes and lab-on-a-chip devices
  • Transparent parts with visible internal channels
  • Optical components and micro-lenses
  • Photonics and waveguide development
  • Biomedical device prototypes
  • Sensor housings and alignment features
  • Research and development parts requiring visual inspection

Useful for microfluidics and lab-on-a-chip development

BMF Clear is particularly relevant for microfluidic development, where designers often need to inspect channels, chambers and internal geometries during testing.

Transparent micro 3D printed parts can help researchers and engineers assess flow paths, check feature formation and refine designs before moving to further testing or alternative manufacturing routes. This can be useful during early design iteration, especially when parts contain fine channels or complex internal structures that would be difficult to evaluate in opaque materials.

Available on IPFL’s BMF micro 3D printing systems

IPFL uses BMF micro 3D printing technology to produce small, high-detail plastic components for prototyping, research and low-volume production.

The addition of BMF Clear expands the material options available for customers who need transparent micro 3D printed parts, while keeping access to the fine feature capability of the BMF process.

BMF Clear is now available at IPFL for suitable projects. Our team can review CAD files, advise on geometry, assess minimum feature sizes and recommend whether BMF Clear is the right material for the application.
